Tag 18 Adventskalender 2019

Hallo ihr Lieben

Das heutige Türchen kommt aus:

 New Zeeland
von Beth Wong

English

Christmas Day is a very special anniversary for the church here in Aotearoa New Zealand,
The first sermon preached here was on Christmas Day.
Reverend Samuel Marsden had arrived at Oihi Bay with a team to set up a mission station in 1814. His friend of 5 years, Ruatara, a chief of the Nga Puhi accompanied him.. Arriving a few days earlier and having chosen a site, the Christmas Day gathering took place on the beach. Ruatara translated fro the mainly Maori gathering. And so, the gospel, the news that God had come to earth to be light was first formally proclaimed here in Aotearoa New Zealand.
As these travellers from Europe did, Jesus made a missions trip, from heaven to earth.
He came to bring light to this world, to Be that light for us. His birth was a fulfilment of the prophecy in Isaiah 9 “The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned.

Isaiah 9:2 NIV

We carry this light in our hearts, let’s not hide it under a lampshade or a ‘bushel’ but bring it shining from us to those around us each and every day bringing the message of Christmas every day.
“For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.”
2 Corinthians 4:6 NIV

As we celebrate the birth of Mary’s son, the Son of God with lights on trees and decorations all around remember. Remember He came to be light for us and in us for the world.

Tag 15 vom BAJ - Adventskalender 2018

Hallo ihr Lieben

Das heutige Türchen kommt aus:

It is about this part/Chapter: John 1,10

John 1:10
I te ao ia, i hangā ano e ia te ao, a kihai te ao i mohio ki a ia.
John 1; 9-10 “The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him.”
‭‭John‬ ‭1:9-10‬ ‭NIV‬‬
John 1:14
A i whakakikokikotia te Kupu, a noho ana i a matou, (a i kite ano matou i tona kororia, he kororia e rite ana ki to te Tamaiti kotahi a te Matua), kī tonu i te aroha noa me te pono.

He comes to us.
Christmas, when our God came to live with us.

“The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.”
John 1:14 NIV
There is a song which is quite old now, with the lines, “He came from heaven to eart,
To show the way”

Philippians 2 tells us “When the time came, he set aside the privileges of deity and took on the status of a slave, became human! Having become human, he stayed human. It was an incredibly humbling process. He didn’t claim special privileges.”

We focus, if we remember Him at all, on the baby of Christmas. The sweet cute baby in the manger whom shepherds worshipped and angels adored, the baby the wise men came to discover was a new kind of king.
New? Or the most ancient of days?
I have been pondering all that Jesus left behind to come to earth, the glory, the splendour of heaven, the gold! To be born in a stable, probably surrounded bymud.
He gave up his throne for a feeding trough( that’s what a manger is), the hay in it was for their dinner.
He agreed to this assignment, he gave up the comfort of heaven, the intimate fellowship with Papa God and Holy Spirit for our sakes, so we could join in that fellowship. He willingly became lower so I could behold His glory.
It kind of makes my little irritations insignificant. The lumpy sofa, the torn wallpaper pale in comparison to starting life in a stable. Who am I to grumble.
Rather I am thinking this Christmas it would be better to give to those who are truly in need. To get out of my comfort zone, as Jesus left his and love as he did, by bringing love and comfort to those with real problems.
We spend a lot, time, energy, money on the trimmings of Christmas. Do these bring honour to the babe of Christmas, to Jesus? How was the stable decorated that first Christmas decorated? Quite simply, the natural, the earthy, the mundane was filled with the light and life of the Saviour.

So here is my Christmas contemplation, He left His glory to bring glory to me. I have been blessed to be a blessing, I bless Jesus by loving him back and by loving others through him. I bring Him glory by letting His light flow through me.
Heavenly Father I pray that this Christmas I will look for those in need you want me to go to, that I will remember you left your glory to come to earth. Help me to bless others with your light and love.

A little about New Zealand: we are at the other end of the earth from many of you readers. Once settled only by Maori, from the late 1700s many others have found there way here, English, other Europeans and people now from almost every country in the world. We have 3 official languages, Maori English and NZ sign language, though sadly most only speak English, many Maori words are integrated into our daily language. I have included some texts at the beginning from Te Paipera Tapu ( the Holy Bible)

About me: I am old enough to be a grandmother (Nana) to 5, nearly 6 lovely grandchildren ( mokopuna). I love expressing myself creatively and have just resigned from my paid job to explore this, among other things.

 Philipper 2 sagt uns:

Vielen ♥️herzlichen Dank!!!

13.Tag vom BAJ - Adventskalender 2017

Das heutige Türchen kommt aus.:

New Zeeland
Aotearoa

If you like the calendar, feel free to recommend it.
Falls euch der Kalender gefällt, empfehlt ihn gerne weiter.

This Song was written to remember the first sermon spoken in New Zealand. This happened in the Bay of islands, in 1814, on a beach. Rev Samuel Marsden was the man who travelled to share the gospel here. It also illustrates the different season we celebrate Christmas in here

Es geht umdiese Bibelstelle Jesaja 49;6
It is aboutthis part/Chapter Isaiah 49;6

Here is the Maori version of the verse:

Isaiah 49;6 I will make you a light of the nations so that my salvation may reach to the ends of the earth.

One of my favourite Christmas hymns is O come, O come Emmanuel. I love the meaning of Emmanuel, God with us, and the thought He is with us whenever, wherever we are. For me, Advent is a time to hope, to prepare, to examine my heart to allow God in, in new ways.
Of course we remember the birth of Jesus, sent as a baby to show us just how much God loves us. Babies melt our hearts simply by being present. God present with us melts the hardness around our hearts to let Him in.
This presence of God is for all though and as we see, over and over again in Isaiah God cares about all the nations.
Here in New Zealand, at the other end of the earth from Bethlehem, we have a tree, the pohutukawa that we call our Christmas tree as it flowers each Christmas. It has bright red flowers which remind me not only of the celebration of God's love, but also of Jesus love shown to us through his death. So each Christmas we see that God's salvation has truly reached the end of the earth.
Heavenly Father, we pray that this Christmas we would see you in new ways, experience your love in new ways and remember that your love reaches not only to the end of the earth for us, but from heaven to earth.

AMEN

Pohutukawa
